Hello! I am thrilled to be back with more exciting updates for you, mom! Congratulations on reaching the progressive 11th week of your pregnancy!
Inside the womb, your little one is as busy as he/she can be. Let’s take a peek at this magical world together.
Your baby is growing day by day and now, they are approximately the size of a ripe grapefruit or a fig(anjeer), measuring about 4.5 – 5 cm. It’s truly amazing how perfectly God designs everything. By this time, their vital organs are well-formed and ready to carry out their functions. The pancreas is starting to secrete insulin, while the liver is bustling as a production house for red blood cells. Oh, those adorable little kidneys are fully functional now!

Between the 11th and 14th weeks, your baby begins to develop a great sense of smell. Whatever food you eat, it reaches the baby through the amniotic fluid. Interestingly, if you avoid certain foods during this time, your little one might also develop a preference or aversion to those foods after birth.
Not only is there remarkable development inside, but the baby’s face is also taking shape. The features are becoming more distinct, with eyelids forming the inner eye parts. Taste buds are also evolving, contributing to the creation of a perfect little human face.
Those once tiny fingers and toes are no longer so small; they are now fully formed and distinct, no longer resembling a flower bud. And as the baby’s vital organs grow, so do their tiny genitals, proportionally developing within their little body.
Now, let’s talk about what’s in store for you, dear mom:

- Food Aversion: We’ve touched on this before, but it’s essential to stick to a diet routine that eases these symptoms. Avoid spicy foods that trigger aversions and make you uncomfortable. Remember, it’s as simple as “eat what you like.” Reach out to mama groups and discuss the demands of your body, as the answers lie in the experiences of other mothers who have been through it.
- Headaches: These pesky headaches may bother you, but don’t give up! They can be managed and by this time, you’ll understand the reasons behind them better. Whether it’s due to mood, allergies, stress, or lack of sleep, work on addressing the possibilities. Embrace change, mama! Try that new lemon tea from the advertisement or explore headache relief roll-ons available in the market. Engaging in some neighborhood gossip might also work wonders!
- Increased Urination: Hormones are at play and frequent restroom breaks become the norm. Be gentle with your body and resist the urge to rush, knowing that there’s a tiny life growing inside. Caution and care go a long way.
- Constipation: Constipation, gas and bloating are common during pregnancy. Follow expert exercise regimes, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and don’t skip fibrous foods.
- Breast Tenderness: Embrace this phase and connect with your body. Consider journal entries to help relieve symptoms and a hot shower might work wonders. If you experience any difficulties or uneasiness, you know who to call. Stay safe and happy.
Now, let’s talk about the medical monitoring suggested for mommies during the 11th week:
- Nuchal Translucency (NT) Test
- Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) if necessary
- First Trimester Combined Screening Test
- Maternal Blood Screening
- Optional Genetic Carrier Screening

NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS
During pregnancy, nurturing both yourself and your growing baby becomes the most precious responsibility. Embracing a wholesome diet is the key to providing the essential nourishment for this incredible journey of motherhood. Two ingredients that shine brightly during this time are almonds and jaggery, offering not only delightful flavors but also a wealth of nutritional benefits.
Almonds, those little wonders packed with goodness, are a true gift from nature. Just like the love that fills your heart, almonds are rich in protein, which is crucial for your baby’s growth and development. These protein-packed gems serve as the building blocks for your little one’s tiny body, ensuring that every cell, every tissue and every organ flourishes with strength and vitality.
But that’s not all – almonds also boast a treasure trove of healthy fats, including monounsaturated fats, the kind that your body adores. These fats are like a warm embrace for your baby’s brain and nervous system, supporting their cognitive development in the most gentle and loving way. As you savor the delightful crunch of almonds, imagine how they are gently nurturing your baby’s brain, laying the foundation for their future brilliance and happiness.
Now, let’s talk about jaggery – the natural sweetness that warms your soul, just like the love that surrounds your growing family. This wholesome sweetener is a wonderful source of iron, a mineral that becomes your baby’s faithful companion in the journey to a robust immune system. Just as your love protects and shields your little one, iron from jaggery works diligently to safeguard their health and well-being, making their tiny body strong and resilient.
Beyond its iron content, jaggery also brings a touch of sweetness to your life, easing moments of fatigue and stress. Pregnancy can be a rollercoaster of emotions and a little sweetness from jaggery acts as a comforting hug, lifting your spirits and reminding you of the joyous path you are treading upon.
As you relish the delightful combination of almonds and jaggery in every bite of Almond Chikki, take a moment to cherish the love and care you’re putting into every aspect of your pregnancy. Just as you sprinkle your love into this recipe, you’re infusing every moment of your pregnancy with warmth and affection.
Every time you enjoy this delicious treat, let it be a beautiful reminder of the bond you share with your little one. Each almond and every bit of jaggery embodies the nourishment and love you provide, nurturing the miracle growing inside you.
So, dear mom-to-be, take joy in knowing that every choice you make, every morsel you savor, connects you with your baby in a profound and emotional way. As you savor the goodness of almonds and the sweetness of jaggery, remember that this is just a glimpse of the love you’ll be showering upon your little bundle of joy.
Cherish this incredible journey, celebrate the miracle of life and keep nurturing yourself and your baby with all the love and care you possess.
