Welcome to the 15th week, mama!
Congratulations to you and your little one for embarking on this incredible journey filled with both physical and emotional challenges. But worry not, we’re in this together and I’m here to share the wonders of this beautiful phase with you.
At 15 weeks, your baby has grown to be about 10 to 15 cm long, similar in size to a lovely apple. Can you believe it? I’m sure you can feel the little flutter of excitement in your heart as you imagine your tiny apple blossoming into a full-fledged human being.
This week, something truly magical happens – your baby’s taste buds start working! As they explore the world from within, their taste buds are connecting to their brain, making way for delightful experiences yet to come. And that’s not all, the skin remains super thin, allowing the delicate blood vessels to peek through, just like little lines of love, connecting you to your baby.

The tiny skeleton is getting stronger and more rigid, paving the way for the formation of the superior structure of the spinal cord. Legs are growing longer than the arms and your little one’s brain is busy mastering the art of controlling and commanding the muscles, taking small yet significant steps towards becoming a little person. Oh, the wonders of creation are beyond comprehension!
Imagine this, your baby now has adorable eyelids, eyebrows, defined fingers and toes! What a joyous sight it would be to witness those tiny features. The excitement is building up and I can feel your heart racing with anticipation. Every week seems like a treasure trove of surprises and new developments, like reading a Wikipedia page about your younger self. And trust me, mama, I’m just as eager as you are to witness each milestone.
Now, let’s talk about the symptoms you might be experiencing during this week:

- Heartburn: Physical and hormonal changes might lead to heartburn and we can manage it by making a few tweaks to our diet, like avoiding trigger foods. We have to take care of ourselves, as every small adjustment counts.
- Leg cramps: Those pesky leg cramps are due to the compression of blood vessels. Gentle exercises tailored to your body’s needs can work wonders in easing the discomfort. Remember, mama, comfort is the key!
- Weight gain: Our increased appetite is to blame and I understand the allure of our loved ones’ delicious dishes. Balance is essential, though. Listen to your body and make choices that nourish you and your baby, keeping in mind the pros and cons.
- Pregnancy brain: Ah, the forgetfulness! It’s like a little game our brain plays with us. It’s all part of the journey, mama. Keep a journal or plan a schedule to help you stay on track. These clouds of forgetfulness will pass, I promise.
- Nasal congestion: Don’t worry; we’ve got this covered from last week. Nasal drops and good hygiene will keep things in check. Soon after our little heart is in our arms, these associated pregnancy challenges will find their way out.
- Lower back pain: A common companion during this time, but we can manage it with attention to our sitting, eating and sleeping positions. Invest in some good pillows and design your baby’s wardrobe while we wait to discover if it’s pink or blue. Talk to your little panda, share stories and keep your heart filled with joy and love.
Now, let’s talk about the medical monitoring during the 15th week:
Several tests and screenings are in place to monitor your health and your baby’s well-being, including blood tests, urine tests, ultrasounds and genetic testing. Rest assured, mama, we’re taking every step to ensure the best for both you and your little one.
In conclusion, my dear mama, stay healthy, heal yourself and stay happy. Remember, God is working for you and within you. Have faith, let your emotions flow and embrace every beautiful transition. Focus on what brings you joy and happiness, for only those are worth keeping close to your heart.
Until next week, I am here with you, your trusted pregnancy partner – Pregymatic. Together, we’ll cherish every moment of this extraordinary journey.

NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS
As an Indian mother, I know the emotions that come with the precious journey of pregnancy. It’s a time of joy, excitement and a deep sense of responsibility as we nurture the life growing within us. During this special time, it’s essential to nourish ourselves with the right foods that not only benefit us but also contribute to the well-being of our little one.
Let’s talk about the nutritional benefits of two ingredients that hold a special place in our hearts – guava and curd.
Guava
Guava, with its luscious sweetness and vibrant flavour, is a delightful fruit that brings a burst of joy to our taste buds. Beyond its delectable taste, guava offers an abundance of nutritional goodness for you and your baby.
Rich in Dietary Fibre: Guava is one of the richest sources of dietary fibre, which plays a vital role during pregnancy. Fibre aids in maintaining healthy digestion, preventing constipation and ensuring a smooth digestive process. As our bodies go through various changes during pregnancy, this gentle yet effective fibre in guava keeps our digestive system happy and content.
Low Glycemic Index: Guava has a low glycemic index, which means it causes a slower and steadier rise in blood sugar levels. This quality is especially beneficial during pregnancy, helping to manage blood sugar fluctuations and keeping gestational diabetes at bay.
Packed with Vitamins A & C: Guava is a powerhouse of essential vitamins, particularly vitamins A and C. These vitamins play an integral role in boosting our immune system, protecting us from infections and supporting healthy skin. As mothers, we want nothing but the best for our babies and guava’s impressive vitamin content ensures a strong immune system for both of us.
Curd
Curd, or yogurt, is a versatile and soothing food that holds a special place in our Indian kitchens. It’s more than just a side dish; it’s a nourishing superfood that enriches our well-being during pregnancy.
Improves Immunity: As we carry the precious life within us, boosting our immunity becomes a top priority. Curd contains beneficial probiotics that strengthen our gut health, contributing to a robust immune system. A strong immunity protects us from illnesses and ensures that we remain healthy to care for our little one.
Supports Bones and Teeth Health: During pregnancy, our body’s calcium needs increase significantly to support the developing baby’s bones and teeth. Curd is an excellent source of calcium, which not only keeps our bones strong but also ensures the healthy development of our baby’s skeletal system. Strong bones for both of us mean a brighter and healthier future.
As we savour the goodness of guava and curd, let’s remember that every bite we take nourishes not just our bodies but also our hearts. With each delicious mouthful, we are offering love, care and sustenance to our baby, building a strong foundation for their health and happiness.
So, dear mama, embrace the goodness of guava and curd in your diet, knowing that they are not just foods but a reflection of the love and care you pour into every aspect of your pregnancy journey.
