Hello, wonderful moms-to-be! Pregymatic is overjoyed to connect with you once again and share the incredible milestones of your baby’s growth during the 7th week. It’s truly a magical time!
During this enchanting week, your little bundle of joy is making remarkable progress in both size and functionality. How amazing is that? Let’s dive into the details and celebrate every little achievement together.
Size: Your precious embryo has grown to around 0.5 to 0.6 inches (1.2 to 1.5 centimeters) in length, resembling a cute little blueberry. Can you believe it? It has multiplied its size by a staggering 10,000 times since its formation. Talk about some serious growth spurt goals! Vital organs like the brain, heart, liver and kidneys are continuing to develop and take shape. The brain cells are multiplying at an astonishing rate, approximately 100 cells in just a matter of seconds. We might have a genius in the making here! Take a moment to appreciate the miracle happening within you. You and your little one are truly incredible. Those adorable limb buds we saw in the 5th and 6th week are now sprouting even more. The kidneys are also taking shape, getting ready for their crucial role in waste excretion. But don’t worry, diapers aren’t on the shopping list just yet. The baby’s face is starting to take shape too, with the growth of the eyes and ears. Did you know that they will soon start making expressions like squinting and frowning? How utterly adorable will that be? Internal organs are also beginning to function. The liver produces bile and the kidneys start to produce urine. While the fetus might start making some movements, it’s a bit too early for you to feel them just yet. But don’t worry, that precious connection will come in time.

And let’s not forget about the brainy business happening inside! Alongside the rapid growth of brain cells, the cornea, iris, pupil and retina are also starting to form. Your embryo might have a big forehead for now, but that’s all thanks to those rapidly developing brain cells. Additionally, the nervous system is building its network, paving the way for sensory experiences like temperature and taste. The wonders of creation are truly unfolding before our very eyes. That tiny bud is transforming into a force to be reckoned with, like a rapid-fire engulfed by the Phoenix. These miracles are meant to be cherished.

- Food Aversion: Thanks to increased estrogen levels, you might find yourself experiencing food aversions. Pregymatic suggests staying calm and embracing citrus fruits—they work wonders, even more than meets the eye. Spicy foods may not be your best companions at the moment. Home-cooked meals like lentils and clarified butter (ghee) can also provide some relief. And hey, if you suddenly start craving a specific kind of food, follow your heart—literally—but remember to enjoy it in moderation!
- Mood Swings: Ah, those infamous mood swings. They can catch you off guard, especially when you’re feeling fatigued and tired. The key is to prioritize your best possible mood. Engage in activities that bring you joy—flip through your wedding albums, design adorable baby clothes—let your creative spirit soar!
- Constipation: Acid reflux and constipation are unwelcome guests during the first trimester. Balancing them can feel like a tightrope act. Fiber-rich supplements and frequent small meals are your allies in this battle.
- Swollen Breasts: Ah, the magical transformation of your breasts. The areola—the area around the nipple—will darken and you may notice tiny goosebumps. They are getting ready to supply lubrication for breastfeeding. Motherhood is a beautiful journey indeed.
Remember, these developments are general and may vary from mother to mother. Your healthcare provider will provide specific information and monitor the growth and development of your little one during your Antenatal visits.
So, what’s on the agenda for the 7th week?
Apart from the routine physical tests, your doctor may recommend some blood tests to gather a comprehensive history of your family’s health, ensuring that everything is falling perfectly into place. An ultrasound may also be scheduled to provide a glimpse of your growing miracle. It’s an exciting time, filled with anticipation and love.
Stay tuned for our next update, where we’ll continue to explore the incredible journey of pregnancy together. Remember, you’re doing an amazing job, Momma! Keep embracing the wonder of creating life within you.

NUTRITIONAL FACTS
During pregnancy, maintaining a balanced and nutrient-rich diet is crucial for the health of both the mother and the developing baby. Both broccoli and olive oil offer specific nutritional benefits that can be advantageous during this time:
Broccoli
Folate: Broccoli is a good source of folate, a B-vitamin that is essential for proper neural tube development in the fetus. Adequate folate intake helps prevent birth defects related to the brain and spinal cord.
Fiber: The fiber in broccoli aids in digestion and helps alleviate common pregnancy-related constipation.
Vitamin C: Broccoli is rich in vitamin C, which supports the immune system, promotes healthy skin and enhances the absorption of iron from plant-based foods.
Calcium: Calcium is crucial for the development of the baby’s bones and teeth. Broccoli contains calcium, albeit in smaller amounts compared to dairy products.
Iron: While not as high as in red meats, broccoli contains some iron, which is important for preventing anemia during pregnancy.
Olive Oil
Healthy Fats: Olive oil is a source of monounsaturated fats, which are beneficial for heart health. They support proper development of the baby’s brain and nervous system.
Vitamin E: Olive oil is rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage and supports skin health. It also plays a role in the baby’s development.
Anti-Inflammatory Properties: The anti-inflammatory properties of olive oil may help reduce the risk of pregnancy-related inflammation and complications.
Blood Sugar Control: Olive oil’s consumption might help regulate blood sugar levels, potentially reducing the risk of gestational diabetes.
Remember that while these foods offer benefits, it’s important to maintain a well-rounded diet and consult with a healthcare provider or a registered dietitian during pregnancy to ensure you’re meeting all your nutritional needs. Every pregnancy is unique and individual dietary needs may vary.
